Fisher wins & takes championship lead

At the BRSCC race weekend at Castle Combe on July 15th Josh Fisher did a clean sweep of pole position, race win and fastest lap to move to the top of the Castle Combe FF1600 championship.

Practice saw the Van Diemen JL14 working well and Josh take pole with a 1m 10.267s lap. Andrew Higginbottom, in the WPR team's Van Diemen RF88 continued his good form and was 0.003 sec slower than Class C top qualifier David Cobbold with Steve Bracegirdle's RF89 three quarters of a second back.

At the start Michael Moyer's Spectrum got the jump on Josh and lead for the first seven laps. On Lap 8 Josh got past to take the lead which he held until the end. Andrew suffered the misfortune of the car going sick on him on the green flag lap - made worse by the fact that it restarted and ran fine back in the paddock! Steve had a good race, finishing on the lead lap, second in Class C and with fastest lap.

In the National Formula Ford race Ivor Mairs was over from Ireland and had a run in a WPR team Van Diemen RF88. Never having raced at Castle Combe Ivor took it easy and brought the car home unscathed.

With Graham Cox away the WPR team had only Steve Bracegirdle out in the Mini Cooper for the Saloon Car race. In a race that saw no fewer than 12 DNF's Steve stayed on the track to finish 17th.
